Today I have a great chance to touch on one of my favourite topics – Scandinavian interiors – and to talk about light, cosy and so attractive Scandinavian bedrooms.  You will find the key peculiarities of north European interiors taking magnificent Swedish bedrooms as examples.

The two most common colour schemes when it comes to Scandinavian bedrooms are:

1. In white and white (snow-white walls, ceiling, floor).

At that, you feel safe from the feeling of «medical establishment» and sterility in this case due to different textures (wood texture on the floor, stuccowork, no lack of textile, fur) and contrast color stains (bright pillows, blankets, mat, curtains, cut flowers, multi-colored decor, wood furniture).

2. If «in white and white» scheme seems too extreme for you, install parquet or laminated flooring of light natural shade in your bedroom (light walnut, grey oak, maple…). Your interior will become warm, cosy and ecological.

Scandinavian bedrooms: window covering

Daylight is a key moment of Scandinavian style. Big windows in snow-white frames, light and easy curtains or Roman shades. More often than not, inhabitants of North Europe refuse from shades at all: nothing is to limit access of sunrays to a bedroom.

Flowery wallpapers

You can make a snow-white interior of your bedroom alive covering one wall with beautiful wallpapers with flower print or any other natural one.

Brick

Classic red brick supplements a light laconic interior beautifully. Contrast brick wall (or even its small part) will make your bedroom live and full of special charm typical for the loft.

Decor

There are no too many things in a Scandinavian bedroom – each element is cherry-picked and makes an integral part of the interior.   Pay attention to modern laconic posters, pictures and photos. Combine frames and images of different sizes, creating collages and unusual compositions on the wall.

At that, it is important to strike a balance and principles of minimalism. Air and daylight are the best decors for the Scandinavian interior.

Scandinavian bedrooms reflect the love of North Europe inhabitants for nature, natural materials, cosy textile and sunlight. Implementation of Scandinavian minimalism principles, undoubtedly, work in every modern interior`s favour. Hopefully, you like these examples, and you had something new to learn about Scandinavian style.

Beautiful Neutral Bedrooms

Designing the perfect bedroom without taking bedlinen style into consideration can spoil the final effect. The right chosen fabrics are perfect complement of bedroom. It means that that textures and patterns should not be too bright and dominative - they should play with the whole interior to create lovely and friendly space to rest and dream.

If you’ve heard anything about Feng Shui before, you’ll know how important it is to create good energy in your home.  This is especially true when it comes to your bedroom, as it is one of the rooms in your home where you will spend a lot of time.  If you’ve been wondering how to create a great Feng Shui bedroom design, keep reading.  We aim to give you three simple steps that you can implement straight away.

Step 1: Create a Good Energy Foundation
Creating a good energy foundation relates to establishing the basic rules of your room, so that you can add extra features where you see fit.  There are three main rules to a good energy foundation:
- Clean air
Natural light
- No clutter

You may also want to consider not having any electrical equipment in your room.  This is because gadgets and devices like mobile phones and TVs create high electromagnetic fields which can harm your good energy.  Letting in natural light, keeping the room free of clutter, and encouraging natural air flow will all provide a good foundation from which to build upon.

Step 2: Place Your Bed in a Commanding Position
You want to place your bed in its rightful commanding position.  It should face one of your lucky Feng Shui directions, and should also be easily accessible from both sides.  You should avoid placing a mirror opposite your bed, or having any sharp angles facing you when you sleep.  Once you have your bed in place, you can place your other items of furniture accordingly.  It is fine to move them around from time to time, just keep your Feng Shui directions in mind to encourage energy to flow harmoniously.

Step 3: Make Good Use of Colours and Décor
Finally, it’s important to make good use of colours and décor in order to create a harmonious space that will nourish and heal you.  You want to create a serene feel to your bedroom, so only include items that you want to be surrounded with.

Feng Shui colour guidelines dictate that neutral colours are best for the bedroom as are earthy colour tones like chocolate and sand.  You can also add sensual romantic colours like magenta and red if you want to add a sense of modernity to your design.

Your bedroom should also be a comfortable place, so opt to use comfy bedding like that from Threel.co.uk, have dimmer switches installed for a softer lighting scheme, and install art that makes you feel happy and inspired.

Your bedroom is an outward expression of yourself, so it’s time to turn it into a place that you enjoy spending time in.  The following Feng Shui tips will help improve your energy, whether you sleep alone or with a loved one.  Keep them in mind when you next redecorate, and you are guaranteed to feel a lot better after the first night in your new room.

Good luck creating your harmonious Feng Shui bedroom!

Three Steps to a Feng Shui Bedroom Design

Parquet is a geometric mosaic of wood pieces used for decorative flooring effect. Parquet patterns are entirely geometrical and angular — squarestriangleslozenges. The most popular parquet flooring pattern is herringbone.
We love wooden floors, but tend to install straight wooden floor boards more often. One of the clients expressed a wish to fit a parquet flooring in her new apartment and we decided to do some research on this. I can say that I quietly felt in love with herringbone parquet, it does not stand out too much, but still gives a touch of uniqueness.

Would be interesting to hear your opinion on parquet flooring too :)
