Does a chandelier with Swarovski elements always need to be pretentious? Surely not! Quasar is creative lighting company from Netherlands. We spotted them during Sleep Event 2017 in London. They provide products that are both modern and sophisticated but not overwhelming. The effect is amazing!
From their website:
In 1992 Quasar presented itself for the first time at an international fair: Euroluce in Milan. The look and feel of that time is still visible in our collection. It is important to note that in the basic collection Quasar most of the models are available in several finishes of materials. (aluminium, stainless steel, brass, bronze etc) This makes the designs timeless and the choice of the materials determines the use of the item, either in a classical or modern ambiance.
Through the years the collection is expanded by models of the world famous designers like “Ravage”, Edward van Vliet and the Belgian artist Jan Pauwels. Every year are added new models, this steady growth of the collection made Quasar to one of the most creative lighting companies. This growth is followed by investments into a larger production company, in the excellent quality of the products and the inventive packaging.
Since almost 10 years Quasar is working with led. So it is not anymore the light of the future. 90% of the new models are equipped with best quality of led.
For all models they offer the possibility to make custom sizes, colours etc. As every project is differ-ent, often individually designed architects this is important. It is even possible to create new models based on the architects sketches.
At this time the export is about 75% of the total turnover.
Every piece can be custom- made, depending on which size or colour we need.
Simple ideas looking good!

1. When it comes to designing a house, we like to do it in a simple and modern way. However, we always try to add warmth and cosiness to the space by fitting wooden flooring and choosing warm colour scheme.
2. We always try to maximise amount of daylight entering the space. If windows size cannot be changed, the great way to bring more light into the room is to use lightweight, sometimes a bit see-through, curtains. This soft breezy Mediterranean look makes the space feel more bright and airy.
3. Both for window dressing and other soft furnishings we like to use soft, light and high-quality fabrics. Our favourite choices of fabrics would be natural looking materials, such as linen, cotton, stonewashed cotton and cashmere. Those fabrics not only look beautiful, but also feel extremely soft and cosy.
4. Lighting design plays a big role in the overall house renovation. We study the space very carefully and come up with some clever lighting solutions to benefit each room. We use different electrical circuits to separate lighting and create various layers for a more dramatic look. This would include: general lighting as downlights, highlighting specific areas within the room; task lighting, usually a pendant light over the dining table or a reading light next to the bed and atmospheric lighting, that could be an LED lighting strip within a joinery piece, niches in the bathroom, LED strips behind the bathtub and decorative standalone lamps in the living room and bedrooms. All lighting would be on dimmers for a full control to choose between strong and soft lighting schemes.
5. When we work on the colour scheme for the project we use a layer system as well. The base layer would be quite neutral and will include all the fitted elements of the interior, such as flooring, wall paints, kitchen cabinets, bathroom finishes and joinery. We would include all the movable and easy replaceable pieces, such as furniture, window dressing and decorative pieces into the second layer, that could be more bright and colourful. This way the shell of the interior is quite neutral and you will never get tired of it, when all the decorative pieces could be changed and upgraded depending on the current season, trends and mood of the house occupier.

Witt is a modular, geometric take on the traditional chandelier. Glowing, pearl-like luminaires are framed by the graphic outlines of hollow cubes, which, like building blocks, allow for endless compositions.
Notch casts light from the top or bottom, and from its core, thanks to the cube-shaped hollow cut out of its open, rectangular, column-like shade—yet the light source remains mysteriously concealed. In addition to enhancing the aesthetic qualities of the fixture itself, the contrasting finishes on the interior and exterior also improve the light; as the LEDs reflect off of the interior surfaces, they pick up some of the colour and shine, adding nuance and depth to the overall environment.

Bocci is a contemporary design and manufacturing house based in Vancouver , Canada , with a satellite company based in Berlin , Germany . Their aim is to build a healthy, flexible and stable network united under the goal of creating practical but striking consumer goods of the highest quality.
Even though their pieces focus on emotional and romantic shades of the contemporary design spectrum, they are deeply committed to rigorous and intelligent execution. They are not afraid of technical complexity and are constantly searching for technical innovation, going as far as manufacturing their own proprietary Xenon and LED lamps which have longer lamp lives and lower failure rates than any available alternative.

Choosing the ideal lighting pendant for your dining room can be tricky sometimes. It needs to be a decorative statement, provide enough light for the table and avoid unwanted glare. Much of the functionality of dining room pendant lights can be controlled through proper height placement and choosing the right materials. Glass lighting pendants provide all-around glow, when metal shades are better for more downward focused light. The style is matter of taste and fortunately, there are plenty of modern pendant lights out in the market to create the dramatic look and lighting effect you want in your dining room.

IL FANALE is an Italian Lighting Manufacturer, specialising in iron, copper and brass lighting fittings both for indoor and outdoor. The metals they use to create their lamps are subjected to a special treatment of accelerated oxidation that gives a gloss of aging, which refers to as "antique" look. This special process allows each material to acquire well-defined characteristics. The brass takes on a forest green color, copper acquires a reddish while the iron rusts the tone of its original colour. The post-processing treatments and procedures that are used to reach the final product comply with traditional methods belonging to the family and passed on until now.
