Tiles are a practical and pretty choice for use in hallways. It could look amazing in a variety of formats and patterns. As we do not use hallways as areas where we spend a lot of time, we can afford to be creative and use brighter or bolder flooring designs than usual. Choosing a happy medium between pattern and colour in graphic tiles will do the job. Bold patterned tiles work best if they are offset with neutral walls to keep the focus on the floor.

We love tiling bathrooms but sometimes tiling a whole bathroom can be expensive and not wholly necessary. Whenever possible, we use tiles cleverly in wet areas, as needed and leave the rest of the room painted. It looks sleek and works especially well in larger bathrooms. However, in some cases, such as smaller bathrooms or wetrooms, this isn't so easy to achieve.
In smaller bathrooms where we don't want to tile everything the same but when we don't want to create stand-out feature walls either, we try to create variety by using smaller tiles (mosaics, subway tiles or linear strip mosaics), or the same tile colour/finish but in a different size.
For example, we might tile everything in 600x600mm tiles but for a section of a wall in linear strip tiles in a matching colour. Or we tile everything in 300x600mm except that we tile the floor in mosaic tiles. The possibilities are endless. It's an easy way to add interest to a design while still keeping it simple and affordable.

I couldn't not to stop by Fenella Elms Ceramic's stand at DesignJunction design fair. I thought it was something really creative and unique. Fenella works with clay and creates those wonderful porcelain art pieces.
Flows
Mounted for wall hanging, these works are intuitively built in porcelain clay to create shifting perspectives. Individually made beads of clay joined to a sheet of porcelain with slip before the whole work is fired together to make one, single piece.
Edges
Fenella says that Aspects of her past career in mental health continue to influence her work with clay: the subconscious approach, a sense of rhythm, attention to detail and difference. She doesn’t seek to put her experiences into the clay, but marvel at how they emerge.
From the website:
There are 3 ceramic collections: Flows, Edges and Sculptures.

Edges
Very fine ribbons of mostly porcelain clay delicately aligned and joined with slip to create intricate structures. After firing, these structures are mounted (in the different ways illustrated below) for wall hanging.
Sculpture
Ribbons of porcelain in a mobius or twisted double helix form with fine porcelain interleaves to build structures that hold light and alter form.

We love designing bathrooms and wetrooms as we get to be so creative with materials. There are so many options for finishes, either in ceramic or porcelain tile, polished plaster, painted finish, stone, concrete tiles and so on. However, sometimes we feel that the beauty and sleek finish of a bathroom can be diminished by the addition of a chunky shower enclosure. Wherever possible, we aim to fit 'invisible' shower screens - single panes of glass on channels or small brackets so that they are barely visible, therefore, not taking away from the beauty of the material finish.
