There was a time when homes were built with lots of separate rooms, all with their own individual purpose, but in recent years open plan spaces became one of the most popular features of a home. Open plan layout may look great and come with obvious benefits, such as light that flows, the ability to allow you to socialise with guests whilst cooking or keep an eye on the children. There are some downsides to it as well, such as cooking smell wafting into living spaces or no place to hide while cooking. I guess if you are not a messy cook and have got a good extractor fan, than there are more advantages than disadvantages to the open-plan living.

As the weather changes, so do our interiors. It's time to start thinking about how to warm up our living spaces to create cosy living rooms for all purposes - whether your living room is a place for family, for entertaining guests or simply for curling up and watching tv, the key this season is to keep it cosy.

James is young bespoke furniture company, founded by designer James Harrison in 2006. I managed to speak with James at 100% Design and I need to say he was really friendly and he told me a little bit about his business.
James himself is very passionate about bespoke items and craftsmanship. He says that their pieces reflect their British nature. The team is made up of carpenters and upholsters in the UK who have acquired their skills over decades, built on tradition techniques.
Having a small but dedicated team managing every project allows us to offer a personal and collaborative approach for each client, ensuring that our exacting standards are delivered at every stage of each project. James UK make a conscious effort to responsibly source materials and support the British manufacturing industry in order to minimise our impact on the environment.
I like their style: simple, but special, with a great attention to the details.
